Before you start
Checkout settings control when clients pay, the policy they agree to, and the options they see when they book. You'll need the business owner role. Settings apply to one marketplace at a time.
Step 1: Choose when clients pay
- In the side menu, under Global, select Marketplaces, then select your marketplace.
- Select the Payments tab, then Edit payment settings.
- Under Payment Collection Method, choose one:
- Collect payment once appointment is confirmed: the client's card is charged in full when the visit is confirmed.
- Collect payment on-site: the client's card is saved, and you charge it at the visit.
- Collect a deposit once appointment is confirmed: a deposit is charged at confirmation, and the rest at the visit.
- If you chose a deposit, set the Deposit Type (a fixed amount or a percentage of the total) and the Deposit Value.
Step 2: Add a payment policy
- Check Add a Payment Policy.
- Enter a Policy Name (for example, "Cancellation Policy") and the Policy Text clients will read.
- Optionally, check Require User Attestation so clients must check a box agreeing to the policy before they book.
- Select Save.
Step 3: Set checkout options
- Select the Checkout tab.
- Enable Wait List: lets clients join a wait list when no appointments are available.
- Enable window-based booking: lets clients choose an arrival window (Morning, Afternoon, or Evening) instead of an exact time. When it's on, you can adjust each window's hours and set a same-day booking cutoff in minutes.
- Accepted Payment Methods: credit card is always on. Check Apple Pay to offer it too.
- Add Notes to Checkout: adds your own questions to checkout, like gate codes, parking, or how the client heard about you. Choose a question type: text, dropdown, multi-select, yes/no, or time.
- Select Save.
Tips
- Deposits reduce no-shows. Pair a deposit with a clear cancellation policy so clients know what to expect.
- Keep checkout questions short. Every extra question is one more step before a client can book.
- Clients can add a tip at checkout by choosing a suggested amount or entering their own. There's nothing to set up.
- Have more than one marketplace? Each has its own checkout settings. Repeat these steps for each one.
